Abstract
A patient with a severe and prolonged leukemoid reaction secondary to carcinoma of
the lung was found to have a striking increase in plasma vitamin B12-binding protein. This protein had all 7 properties that characterize transcobalamin
I (TC I), a normal constituent of plasma which is much increased in chronic myelogenous
leukemia, This observation must be considered in the use of B12-binding patterns in differential diagnosis.
